Anti-Castro propaganda after death

short comment by failed evolution Many Western Right-Wing/neoliberal media rushed to name the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who died recently, more or less, a 'brutal dictator'. Right-Wing/neoliberal trolls have flooded social-media with similar words and phrases. In a grotesque, bizarre situation of today's reality, most of this Right-Wing/neoliberal army, praised Margaret Thatcher's legacy when she died. Yet, the 'dictator' Castro built a strong national health system in Cuba for the people, while the neoliberal Maggy did everything to destroy one of the best health care systems in the West, in favor of the private interests. What these Castro haters usually avoid to reveal, is that Castro fought a US-backed dictatorship in Cuba.  That the 'democratic' US empire is responsible for endless dictatorships (and not only in Latin America).  That the US is an authoritarian regime where the bipartisan dictatorship, c

Aleppo: how US-Saudi backed rebels target ‘every Syrian’

‘ We were living in security and peace. These areas are being targeted, they want to force us to leave. Every Syrian is being targeted,’ one Syrian religious leader told a delegation of reporters who visited Aleppo earlier this month. by Eva Bartlett Part 1 In early November, Fares Shehabi, a member of the Syrian parliament from Aleppo, organized a trip to Aleppo for 13 Western journalists, including myself, with security provided by forces in the Syrian Arab Army. While I had traveled to Aleppo independently as recently as July and August, for many others in the delegation, it was their first visit to the city or their first visit since the war on Syria began in 2011. On previous visits to Aleppo, I met with the Aleppo Medical Association and saw a maternity hospital hit twice by rocket and mortar attacks by militants under Jaysh al-Fatah (the Army of Conquest), a loose alliance of anti-government terrorist groups. I met with members of a branch of t

Fidel´s Legacy

by Atilio Borón The passing of Fidel causes the heart and the brain fight to control the chaos of feelings and ideas this catalyzes. Memories emerge in a whirlwind and overlap in a mix of images, words, gestures (Fidel’s gestuality was amazing), intonations, irony, and, above all, ideas—many ideas. He was a true follower of José Martí’s ideas. He firmly believed in the precept of the Cuban revolutionary: “trenches of ideas are worth more than trenches of stones”. Undoubtedly, Fidel was a great military strategist—something that he proved not only in the Sierra Maestra battles but also in his careful planification of the great battle of Cuito Cuanavale, which was fought in Angola between December 1987 and March 1988, which precipitated the fall of the racist South African regime and ruined the plans of the US in the southern part of the continent. But he was also an accomplished politician, with a phenomenal ability to interpret national and international

Britain’s ‘extreme’ surveillance bill becomes law

Britain’s intelligence services have officially been given the most wide-ranging and privacy-invading mass surveillance powers in the world, according to critics, after the Investigatory Powers Act became law on Tuesday. The legislation, dubbed the ‘snooper’s charter,’ authorizes the government to hack into devices, networks and services in bulk, and allows for large databases of personal information on UK citizens to be maintained. It requires internet, phone and communication app companies to store customers’ records for 12 months and allow authorities to access them on demand. That data could be anything from internet search history, calls made or messages sent, and will be available to a wide range of agencies, including the Department for Work and Pensions as well as the Food Standards Agency. Security agencies will also be able to force companies to decrypt data, effectively placing limits on the use of end-to-end encryption. More:

Most Germans believe EU is ‘heading in wrong direction’

Almost two-thirds of Germans are dissatisfied with the current situation in the European Union and want to see changes in the bloc, while about half of them even want to hold a referendum on Germany’s EU membership, a recent survey shows. About 62 percent of German citizens believe that the European Union “ is heading in the wrong direction, ” a survey conducted by the TNS Infratest Politikforschung market research and analysis group says. The survey also shows that 67 percent of Germans want the EU to change its political course. When it comes to what Germans would specifically like to be changed about the EU, an overwhelming majority (about 96 percent) want the bloc to be “ more transparent and closer to the people. ” Only 39 percent of Germans see Germany’s EU membership as a strictly positive thing, while almost half tend to believe that its membership has both significant positive and negative aspects. As many as 42 percent of German citizens in

Hasta siempre,Fidel! 360 video shows Cubans paying last respects to Castro

Tens of thousands of Cubans lined up in central Havana on Monday to pay their last respects to Fidel Castro, with RT’s Maria Finoshina joining the procession. The two-day commemoration at the Jose Marti Memorial on the north side of Havana’s Plaza de la Revolucion started with a 21-gun salute. Inside the memorial, people walked past a portrait of a young Fidel dressed in military uniform as we saw the former Cuban president’s medals all decorated in white flowers. Castro, who led the Cuban revolution in 1959 and was in charge of the country until 2008, died at the age of 90 on Friday. But even after ceding power to his brother Raul, Fidel was still considered the most significant moral authority in Cuba. At the end of an official nine-day period of mourning, Castro’s ashes will be interred at the Santa Ifigenia cemetery in Santiago de Cuba on December 4 after the mourning ends. https://www.rt.com/news/368616-cuba-fidel-commemoration-360/

Erdogan's proxy war becomes direct

Claims that Turkish forces are in Syria to end Assad's rule Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the Turkish Army entered Syria to end the rule of President Bashar Assad, whom he accused of terrorism and causing the deaths of thousands. “ We entered [Syria] to end the rule of the tyrant al-Assad who terrorizes with state terror. [We didn’t enter] for any other reason, ” the Turkish president said at the first Inter-Parliamentary Jerusalem Platform Symposium in Istanbul, as quoted by Hurriyet daily. Erdogan said that Turkey has no territorial claims in Syria, but instead wants to hand over power to the Syrian population, adding that Ankara is seeking to restore “justice.” “ Why did we enter? We do not have an eye on Syrian soil. The issue is to provide lands to their real owners. That is to say we are there for the establishment of justice, ” he said. He went on to say that “in his estimation” almost 1 million people have died in the conflict

‘Killers having lunch’: The real life Wolves of Wall Street

Part 4 “ Pre-determined profits” and “easy withdrawals” John Price a 69-year-old from Rutland who has cancer, says he also fell victim to BinaryBook’s sales tactics. He says he made an initial investment of £250 after being cold-called in January 2015, and went on to invest about £8,000 more. BinaryBook sent him documents promising “pre-determined profits” and “easy withdrawals”. He withdrew about £2,500 earlier this year but his remaining investment did not do what he hoped. When he saw his account balance stood at just £3,500 last month, he tried to cash out. Emails seen by the Bureau show Price’s account manager, who called himself a “senior broker and trading group manager” refused to let Price withdraw his money unless he accepted his call. When the pair finally spoke the broker persuaded Price to continue trading. “ I told him that I couldn’t afford to lose the £3,500 but he assured me that the trades were safe and that there was a 700% profit due to

The HBGary Emails

WikiLeaks Today, Tuesday 29 November 2016, WikiLeaks publishes in searchable format more than 60 thousand emails from private intelligence firm HBGary. The publication today marks the early release of US political prisoner Barrett Brown, who was detained in 2012 and sentenced to 63 months in prison in connection with his journalism on Stratfor and HBGary. Coinciding with Mr Brown's release from prison WikiLeaks is publishing a searchable index of the HBGary emails. WikiLeaks published the Stratfor emails in 2012. The HBGary emails are from four email accounts of key people from HBGary and HBGary Federal. HBGary was founded in 2003 by Greg Hoglund to provide cyber security-related services to corporate clients. A separate entity, HBGary Federal, was managed by Aaron Barr to do similar work for government agencies and so had staff with security clearances and worked with companies such as Booz Allen Hamilton (one of the contractors Edward Snowden worked for)

Cuban doctors humiliate capitalism

by Aris Chatzistefanou There is a certain word that neolibs around the world never mention in the many comments they make about Fidel Castro’s death – and that word is “embargo”. Their ability to talk about a country that has survived the cruelest and longest economic embargo of the last centuries without even mentioning that defining characteristic is beyond believe. Despite the harsh conditions, Cuba’s health sector still defies their world views about free market, and that thought makes them feel the ground shake under their feet. For decades now, Cuba has lower infant mortality rates than the American superpower, and that fact alone is enough to blow away any arguments for the currently dominant economic system. Today, Cuba stands at the forefront of many medical research areas. While thousand of poor American citizens have to wait in lines from 5 in the morning in order to see an ophthalmologist, Cuban doctors have performed up to 3 mi

For Fidel ...

Fidel Castro, a true legend, has passed away at the age of 90. He is one of the few people to have taken on the U.S. empire, and won. His life has inspired and will continue to inspire revolutions around the world.

Adiós Comandante Castro!

Fidel Castro, leader of the Cuban Revolution dies at 90 The leader of the movement that won Cuban independence and champion of the Global South has died in Havana. Fidel Castro, former president and leader of the Cuban revolution, died Friday night at age 90, Cuban state television confirmed. Raul Castro, Cuba's President and Fidel Castro's brother, announced that Fidel would be cremated on Saturday. " The commander in chief of the Cuban revolution died 10:29pm tonight, " said Castro. Born in 1926 to a prominent landowner in Holguín Province, Cuba, Fidel went on to lead Cuba’s revolutionary independence movement, defeating the U.S.-backed Batista dictatorship in 1959. Soon after his movement took power, Fidel adopted an explicitly socialist model of development and forged strong ties with the Soviet Union, earning the wrath of the United States. For the next 48 years, until resigning in 2008, Fidel led the tiny island nation to

A calm analysis on Venezuela against the mainstream hysterically anti-Socialist propaganda

globinfo freexchange There is no question that Venezuela is in very serious difficulties and has been for the last couple of years. The problem is that it's almost impossible to get a balanced, nuanced report on this, in any major Anglophone media outlet, almost all of which, are ferociously hostile to Venezuela's Left-Wing government. The few reason critics, are distributed in comparatively small publications. Gabriel Hetland, for example, in a balanced piece for the Nation, entitled ' How severe is Venezuela's crisis? ', reports that, while ' Venezuela is in the midst of a severe crisis ... mainstream media have consistently misrepresented and significantly exaggerated the severity of the crisis. ' Without question, the biggest problem facing the Venezuelan government, is the precipitous drop in global oil prices, due to OPEC decision to dramatically increase production. A decision that was clearly not driven by economic mot
